Zuni Cougar or Mountain Lion fetish carvings are commonly carved and are very traditional. They may represent the following: wisdom, resourcefulness, courage, balance in leadership.
 
The Mountain Lion is part of six-directional fetish carvings, along with badgers, bears, wolves, eagles and moles.
