Melinda Toya Fragua is a well-known potter from Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico. She is part of the Water Clan and has been creating pottery for over 25 years. Specializing in storytellers, nativities, koshares, and friendship pots, she learned her craft from her mother, Mary E. Toya, who was also a renowned potter. Melinda digs her clay from the Jemez Reservation and uses natural slips, firing her pottery outdoors. Her work has garnered numerous awards at events like the Northern Indian Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show, and her pieces have been featured in various publications, including Pueblo and Navajo Contemporary Pottery by Guy Berger and Nancy Schiffer.
