Agnes Peynetsa is a renowned Zuni Pueblo potter known for her traditional hand-coiled, hand-painted pottery, often adorned with water-related symbols like frogs and lizards, which are significant in Zuni culture as symbols of water and life.
Agnes Peynetsa created miniature pottery in the 1990s, including a documented piece from 1992: a miniature pinch pot with three frogs, measuring 1 1/2" tall by 1 1/2" in diameter, made with native clay and slips, pit-fired, and signed. Another piece by her, a seed bowl with three frogs and two lizards, is noted for its traditional hand-coiled construction and natural slips. Her work often incorporates traditional Zuni techniques, such as hand-coiling and outdoor kiln firing, with natural pigments in red, black, and white.
