Rowena Him (also known as Rowena Him Nahohai) is a renowned Zuni Pueblo (A:shiwi) potter from New Mexico, part of the influential Nahohai family of artists who have revitalized traditional Zuni pottery techniques in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Born into a lineage of potters, she collaborates often with her husband, Milford Nahohai, and their children, including Josephine, Randy, and Milo Nahohai, incorporating ancient forms with contemporary polychrome designs inspired by Zuni cosmology, nature, and symbolism. Her work emphasizes hand-coiling, stone-polishing, and firing in open pits, using local clays and traditional motifs like heartline animals, rainbirds, and geometric patterns.
