With photos of this mask being carved showing different stages and with original notes.
"The outer figure of the mask represents the Kulus, which is an immature Thunderbird and is Richard Hunt's main crest in the dance, Hamatsa. The inner mask is the Sisiutl or two-headed serpent. The Sisiutl was the main crest of Richard's mother, Helen Hunt. The face in the center of the mask represents the man the Sisiutl has eaten.
The quality that makes this mask unique is that it has no hinges holding it together. Instead, the two pieces are fit together, the way Hunt's ancestors would have done.
The mask would be used in the peace dance, Klasala."
