Zuni Pueblo Indian Fetish Carving
by Marnella Kucate

Wolf Pair / Wolves (mated)

Carved in onyx with turquoise inlaid eyes and power pack
Power pack has shell "arrowhead", coral and turquoise on heishi beaded sinew wrap

 3 5/8" long

Mated wolves like this are a perfect gift for a newly married couple, or to symbolize love and family.

The wolf is an important animal in Zuni Pueblo fetish carvings.
It is a teacher of new ideas and wisdom, and represents intense loyalty with a balance of independence.
It is family oriented, and symbolizes warmth. It is a deeply spiritual figure for many carvers and owners,  a pathfinder on journey of survival and a night story teller.

The wolf is part of six-directional fetish carvings, along with mountain lions, badgers,  bears, eagles and moles.
