"Four of these kachinas appear during the Powamu and inspect the bean plants on the last four days of the Powamu Ceremony. It is their duty to guard the bean plants, and if they are damaged, they may whip all members of the offending kiva.
"Likewise they check to see that no members of the kivas are lying down. If the are, it may adversely affect the growth of the beans, and that would be a poor omen for the approaching season. As everyone desires the coming season of growth to be a success, they try to make the bean crop in the kiva as perfect as possible."

Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
