Late 20th Century
It has been stated that Chakwaina represents Estevan the Moor, who led Fray Marcos de Niza in search of Cibola and was killed at Zuni. There is no documented evidence of this supposition. Chakwaina appear most often in January during the Kiva Dances—dancing in a line with rather lively gestures, stooping and turning and singing a spirited tune. Chakwaina or Tsa'kwayna is a warrior.
Hand Carved from Cottonwood Root
Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.Â
