52.25 x 33.5 in c. 1875-1880, Description/Condition: Very fine weave, with raveled red bayeta, 3 ply vegetable and aniline dyed and hand spun wool yarns. One of the earliest usages of boarder motif we have seen. This weaving is in good condition; with slight weft wear, faint spotting, and noticeable fading to one side. The warp count is 10, and the weft count is 56, per inch. Provenance: Acquired from Frances Hamilton White Collection (1933-2021). Frances Hamilton White was known for her exquisite taste in Native American Art and spent a lifetime carefully curating, adding only the best examples to her collection. Her extensive painting collection was recently sold at Christie's. Ex Joe Tanner personal collection.
