Joe and Thelma Talachy
Talachy, Joe (b. 1943) & Thelma (b. 1942)
Pojoaque Pueblo
Thelma Gutierrez was born in 1942 at Santa Clara Pueblo and grew up there. However, her family's ancestral roots were at Pojoaque Pueblo and she later moved there. Joe Talachy was also born and raised at Santa Clara Pueblo and he moved to Pojoaque Pueblo with Thelma after he married her.
Goldenrod Garcia, Lois Gutierrez de la Cruz and Minnie Vigil, all Santa Clara Pueblo potters, are Thelma's sisters, and all learned the basics of the traditional art of pottery making from their mother, Petra Montoya Gutierrez, who was originally from Pojoaque and married into Santa Clara.
