Collectors Note 10/29/71: Exceptionally fine weave and fit of lid, and unusually large. Also unusual motif in effect / influence in lid and handle - almost Aleut in effect in treatment of knob. Bought 10/29/81 from Cherokee Antiques for $825 (obtained from collection of lady in her 90s who numbered each one and had kept them carefully protected in drawer. Her basket were collected in 1910, but could be earlier from late 19th c.) This is a quietly spectacular beauty at good price. I feel in NYC it would considerably go for over $1000.
