Jennie Laate (1933-1994) was from Acoma Pueblo and married Noel Laate from Zuni Pueblo. She learned to make pottery from Daisy Hooee. Jennie taught pottery classes at Zuni High School after Daisy retired. She helped revive Zuni pottery and in 1979 she was the only Zuni potter at Santa Fe Indian Market. Most of today’s potters at Zuni learned from her classes. She focused on traditional clay and materials for the pottery and today her pieces still have the wonderful charm of the revival Zuni designs.
