The White Buffalo Dancer, Kocha Mosairu, is actually not a Kachina, but one of the star social dancers. He is usually seen in the month of January, particularly in the kiva dances on Second Mesa. He is said to be an import from the Rio Grande Pueblos, since they regularly traded for buffalo skins with the Plains Indians.
Whenever Deer and Antelope Katsinas dance, the Wolf is usually there. He is considered a side dancer at those times. In real life, the wolf is prey to the deer and antelope, so the Hopi use him in these dances in the hope that he will use his skill and knowledge to help them capture those game animals.
Due to the fragile nature of kachina dolls, we do not guarantee they will not break during shipping. We do our best to pack them well, but due to their fragile nature and even with the best packing, small pieces can break. If you are purchasing kachina dolls, please keep this in mind.
