Early to Mid 20th centiry; 13" x 12" d; Ditidaht/Nuu-chan-nulth/Nootka, Ditidaht/Nuu-chah-nulth attributed to artist Sam Williams, a Ditidaht carver (c. 1884-1979) who was the originator of the distinctive Williams family carving style.. This finely crafted model totem pole is by Ditidaht/Nuu-chah-nulth master carver, father of Raymond, who was the father of the current generation of Williams carvers.William Family ; Ditidaht (meaning “people along the way” or “people along the coast” in their language) is a Nuu-chah-nulth nation residing on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
